About Us

Idar House is the residence of Mr. Pradyumna Singh and his family. After a lengthy career in the equine racing industry, Mr. Pradyumna Singh set about building his dream home in the blue city of Rajasthan – Jodhpur since this is where he traces back his roots to. Mr. Pradyumna Singh hails from the erstwhile Royal State of Idar situated in present day Gujarat.

One may wonder how does he then trace his roots to Jodhpur!? Well, it is because H.H. Maharaja Takht Singhji of Idar acceded to the throne of Jodhpur in 1843 on account of death of the then Maharaja of Jodhpur, Maharaja Man Singhji. This was because he was the great grand son of Maharaja Anand Singhji, the first Maharaja of Idar and a younger brother to Maharaja of Jodhpur, Maharaja Ajit Singhji and thus belonged to the Rathore dynasty. It is however interesting to note that Maharaja Takht Singhji’s third son, Maharaja Sir Pratap Singhji went on to acceed the throne at Idar and is the great-great grandfather of Mr. Pradyumna Singh. It is due to this connection, that to this day Idar and Jodhpur are viewed as brothers.

Set near Chopasni School, Jodhpur (Built by Maharaja Sir Pratap Singhji) Idar House is the brain child of Mrs. and Mr. Pradyumna Singh who have opened the doors to their home to offer guests a glimpse into the rich heritage and culture of Jodhpur and to experience the flavourful rajasthani home cooked cuisine curated by Mrs. Singh herself.
